UST Joint Research Center

The Hong Kong - Beijing UST Joint Research Center will focus on the area of computer simulation of materials. It will provide an excellent computation environment for students, faculty and researchers to conduct simulations related to improve materials' properties and products' performance. The Center will take the latest trends of multiscale modeling and simulations, to prompt the "Computer-aided materials design" concept for industry applications.
Areas of Focus:
The goal of computer simulations in materials research is to understand and predict the behavior and performance of materials across all relevant length and time scales, starting from fundamental physical principles and experimental data.
In many instances, such computer simulations are the only enabling tool for the study and understanding of complex systems and natural phenomena that would otherwise be too expensive or dangerous, or even impossible, to study by direct experimentation. The Center is a collaboration between the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB).
