The Wireless IC System Design Center (WISE), based in the Nansha Information and Technology Park, Guangzhou, is one of the research centers of Guangzhou HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute. It was founded on January 25, 2007 and currently has 14 staffs and interns. As part of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, WISE acts as a bridge between the University and the wireless industry.
WISE focuses on developing algorithms, mixed signal ICs, digital baseband and radio-frequency ICs, and applications for wireless systems. Our key projects include a digital baseband implementation of the UWB WiMedia MB-OFDM PHY standard, and a wireless pulse health monitoring system.
Another key area of focus is Education Programs: professional short courses for industry, and internship for postgraduate students from all over China. WISE offers an ideal environment to develop theoretical knowledge and gain practical experience.
WISE serves as a platform to deliver wireless communication systems and ICs with a professional engineering team, to provide technology transfer to the industry, and to assist in building the final product solution.
